KAYAK ESSENTIALS TO BRING ON YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE
Enjoying the great outdoors in your kayak is one of the best ways to take in the sights and sounds of nature.
Kayaking the calm water is the best way to relax and feel at peace! Preparing for each kayak trip takes some planning to make sure your adventure is a fun and relaxing one.
Here are some items that you can take with you on your next adventure that can enhance your next outdoor experience.
1. Repair Equipment
A hole in your kayak does not make for a fun experience.
Make sure you bring a repair kit with repair tape, sealant, bungee cords, and any replacement parts you may need so you can patch up any holes or damage.
You never know what might happen out on the water, so come prepared!
2. Water and OMEALS®
Keeping hydrated is essential to keeping up your energy on the long kayak trip you are about to embark on. Eating a good meal can also give you that extra boost of energy! We recommend bringing along some OMEALS® pre-cooked self-heating meals. Our meals are easy to pack, super lightweight and are delicious. Since the food is in a sealed package, using lake or river water to heat up your food is no problem.
3. Proper Attire
Being in the sun can be draining, so it is important that you dress appropriately for your trip. Long, sunny days could cause you to get dehydrated quickly and cold days require you to bundle up. We love bringing along some swim attire - taking a quick swim is a great way to take advantage of warm weather!
4. An Emergency Kit
Accidents can happen along the way. Prepare a small kit filled with first aid supplies, an extra paddle, a headlamp or flashlight, a flotation device, a compass, and a bilge pump. It is better to be prepared for the worst than to not be prepared at all!
5. A Dry Bag or Box
You can still bring along your cell phone and camera on your trip, but it is important that these items stay dry. Utilizing a dry box that you can store in your kayak is the perfect way to ensure that your valuables remain dry for the whole trip.
Wherever you kayak adventures take you, it is always very important that you come prepared and ready to take on any challenges along the way. Enjoy your adventure!
