I tried these the first time bear hunting this week. I was impressed with how fast it heated up. Taste was good too. Directions were simple and easy to follow. Overall, satisfies though I feel the portion was a little small. The actual “food” bag inside the big bag containing everything was smaller than I anticipated so not as filling as I thought it would be after hiking some steep canyons. Other than a smaller portion than I thought there would be based on overall packaging, it tastes good, heated quickly and thoroughly.
The turkey chili is delicious. Was seasoned just right and very tasty. The only thing I would want to add is more calories. When I am hiking I burn up a lot of calories and when you are on a week long hike you just need more calories.
Great taste and very convenient for camping, outdoors activities, and emergencies
I agree with other reviews, they taste like real food - unlike the military MRE's I've used before. However, the serving is about half-size. A real bowl of stew or chili would take two of these, or about $20 per bowl. This site says I can add up to 5 pictures, but there is no means to do that. I'd like to show a side-by-side comparison of the package and reality.
This is easy to fix and great to bring along especially if out on a cold hike. I think it has a really great taste, though not a large portion so plan to have other food to eat. The bag also gets hot, so it doubles as a really nice warmer too ( watch out for the steam). I mostly love the convenience of it. It really came in handy when there was a fire ban in our National Forest, even Jetboils, so this was a great way to have hot food.
