This is easy to fix and great to bring along especially if out on a cold hike. I think it has a really great taste, though not a large portion so plan to have other food to eat. The bag also gets hot, so it doubles as a really nice warmer too ( watch out for the steam). I mostly love the convenience of it. It really came in handy when there was a fire ban in our National Forest, even Jetboils, so this was a great way to have hot food.
I wanted to try this meal as I do trade shows, during set up days there is no food available and waste time getting fast food that only weighs you down for the rest of the day. My team and I tried different meals and were impressed with the quick prep time and it was just a right amount of food to take the hunger away and not be sluggish after eating. The taste was good for being a MRE with heater and looking forward to ordering more meals in the future. Turkey Chili does Rock!!!!
Didn't get very hot
I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of the Turkey Chili. I will definitely buy this again as it was savory, with just enough heat. I had an issue with the heating element and cooking time though. It was 12 degrees outside when I made this particular meal and the heating element and cook time too much, much longer than 3-5 minutes. I didn't notice any steam until approximately 10 minutes after I added the heating element into the water and sealed the pouch. From there it was another 10-15 minutes before the meal was hot enough to eat. Now, yes, it was extremely satisfying to eat a hot meal with temperatures that cold and again the flavor was excellent! I was just a little surprised at how long everything took to warm up (and maybe that's my own problem for assuming it would work just as well in colder temps as previous meals had with 30+ degree temps).
One of my favorites for lunch while doing volunteer trail work, especially if it’s cold or raining. Also fun to see the expression on crew members faces when they see the steam coming from my bag.
